Mood Ring Colors: Identifying Emotions

This mood ring colors activity will have your students identifying emotions like a superhero! Did you have one of those sweet rings that was inexplicably always the same color, but it was working because you were just always “somewhat relaxed?”

According to this article, mood rings aren’t super scientifically accurate. Mood ring colors change based on the temperature of your skin, which can sometimes be correlated to how you’re feeling emotionally. Like your skin may flush with you’re feeling “romantic,” so the mood ring turns dark blue; or, your skin may be clammy when you’re feeling nervous, so the mood ring turns black.

Similar to a mood ring, in Hall of Heroes, superhero students see different color auras around their classmates and then find that color on the emotion identifier to pinpoint how they are feeling.

In this activity, students will look at different Hall of Heroes characters and identify how they may be feeling based on their facial expressions and body language. Students will then find that emotion on the Emotion Identifier and use that color marker to draw an aura around the character.

While this identifying emotions activity features characters from our middle school game, Hall of Heroes, it is also appropriate for upper elementary students.
