Senior Software Engineer (Durham, NC) Duties: Design, develop and maintain a high-traffic, high-availability, data-heavy web-based application based on rapidly evolving customer and business requirements. Design, architect, and engineer all front-end and back-end components of the application using Laravel PHP and MySQL on the back-end and ReactJS, Redux, and HTML/CSS on the front-end. Optimize and refactor existing application so it can scale to 100x the current traffic. Identify and refactor slow areas of the application using Laravel PHP profilers, identify slow MySQL queries and optimize them to handle exponentially more data. Write new functionality using Test-driven Development (TDD) with tests covering a high percentage of code. Use TDD for both front-end (React and Redux) and back-end (Laravel PHP) code. Incorporate best practices to all object-oriented components using design patterns beyond what the frameworks provide. Responsible for refactoring the existing front-end to run as a single-page application using React, Redux, and Docker so that it can launch in a high-availability environment.

Required: Master’s degree (or foreign equivalent) in Computer Science, Information Technology or related field plus 2 years of experience in the job offered or related software development position. Must have 2 years of experience with PHP, MySQL, Laravel and building REST APIs; Must have 1 year of experience with TDD development and using a profiler for Laravel; Must have 1 year of experience with one or more of the following front-end frameworks: ReactJS, Vue, or AngularJS.
